About Us
Somali Sustainable Development Organization (SOSDO) is Non- governmental development and humanitarian organization focusing on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in Somalia and the greater Horn of Africa region. The organization’s Headquarter is in Mogadishu with field offices in different Somali regions and in HoA countries.
The organization was established by a group of researchers, policy analysts, humanitarian and development workers who are dedicated and committed to the country and region’s economic, political, environment and social development. SOSDO focuses on resilience and development-oriented programmes and initiatives across Somalia and HoA without overlooking the current emergency and humanitarian responses and needs. <br> SOSDO works closely with our partners to identify the activities/areas to be prioritized during our partners’ projects/interventions and support them to implement, monitor, and evaluate them at field level.
Despite the organization’s role in the achievement of the entire SDGs, those related to poverty alleviation, hunger depletion, economic development, sustainable environmental/ climate, access to quality (affordable, accessible and sustainable) social services, good governance and promoting equity and equality remains the center and backbone of SOSDO’s focus-considering the situation and status of the country/ region.
Coming from the believe on the collective responsibility of SDGs achievement, SOSDO expands sustainable knowledge, skills and mindset that motivates the stakeholders and individuals to become deeply committed and engaged in building sustainable future from all and for all. Therefore, we work closely with the government, private sector, development partners, donors, civil societies, and academia for inclusive collaboration towards these common goals.
In this regard, SOSDO has targeted to lead the sustainable resources development in Somalia and built a strong working and professional relationship with the relevant authorities and stakeholders. This is based on mutual transparency, accountability, and trustworthiness which are all fundamental to the organization’s reputation and partnership.
