Like the rest of the globe, Somalia faces significant environmental and climate change challenges and impacts. They remain the main challenges for the productive sector and one of the main causes of humanitarian and famine situation in the country.
In this context, it is the responsibility of SOSDO -among the other- to take bold actions to protect the environment, improve community/stakeholder’s awareness and enhance climate-friendly activities, approaches and initiatives. SOSDO advocates for solving and reducing the threatening environment (including marine) pollution, deforestation, land degradation, waste disposal and climate change issues in Somalia on top of CO2 and greenhouse gases emissions. This is why also clean and renewable energy and enhancing the capacity of related technology adoption and access to this type of energy is paramount and key milestone to be achieved for SOSDO.
SOSDO promotes and looks forward to sustainable agriculture, food production and livelihood systems that improve and have minimal impact on-and not deteriorate- the environment and climate.
