Humanitarian & Disaster Management Sector

We know and believe the reality that certain shocks are not preventable, and the local capacity and resources may not be in place to stand with it. Therefore, while SOSDO focuses on sustainable development and building the resilience of the different key sectors, it does not undermine and overlook the current humanitarian and emergency situation of the country and the relevant urgent measures and initiative to be implemented. The country faces recurrent floods, droughts as well as periodic crises such as the recent locust infestations, COVID-19, coastal storms, and many others.
These usually create emergency situations that makes necessary urgent response to ensure saving the lives, assets, and to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
However, in SOSDO, we do the humanitarian and emergency interventions differently. During the emergency and humanitarian situations, we ensure that while we respond to the emergency needs on the ground, we also addressed the key drivers and underlining causes of the humanitarian, disaster, and emergency situations. Therefore, SOSDO builds a bridge that connects and transfers the current emergency situation to a stage.
