Resilience Sector
The Somali Sustainable Development Organization promotes and works in building resilience of the Somali people, environment, and economy to stand with the recurrent shocks, enhancing the local capacity through promoting sustainable and diversified livelihoods approaches, and strengthen the local preparedness through early warning and response systems and approaches.
In this context, we also provide practical and evidence-based solutions to overcome and reduce the impact of the recurrent shocks and crises particularly those relate to the environment, climate, health, and production. We focus to provide alternative and diversified solutions that enable the households, environment, and economy to sustain during the shocks while providing key assessments and strategies for overcoming the structural factors that increase the vulnerability during the shocks and hard seasons.
We use innovative approaches that takes into consideration the lessons learned from the previous shocks, the magnitude of their impact, and the way the situation and crises/shocks evolved to draw the key resilience measures to be adopted and empowered. We center building the capacity of local communities and administrations/authorities to ensure the process is owned and led by the local people in sustainable and inclusive manner.
